The diverse viewpoints on Belief can be found in the COMPETITION films. Having belief in one’s self that they could achieve the Olympic glory (Dream of Olympic – director Pham Trung Hieu), having belief that nothing is lost forever (Everything returns – directors Le Lam Vien, Do Nhu Trang), having belief in seeking freedom (Freedom – director Pham Viet Dung). There are conflicts on belief between father and son (Memoirs – director Nguyen Viet Anh), mother and daughter (Snakehead Fish – director Do Quoc Trung), between individual and society in Runaway (director Be Nguyen Minh Anh) or between ordinary people and the outbreak of urbanization (Dancing in the Park – producer Ha Thuc Van; The Masons – director Ho Van Hoa).

There are films that explore the topic from humane, simple, touching angles and convey moral messages such as The Lake (director Dao Duc Hai),  The Green Heart (director Dang Cao Cuong), The shoeshine boy (director Doan Thanh), The Bridge’s Story (director Vu Manh Hung) or Hello Pencil (director Pham Phuong Anh, Huynh Thanh Thanh). The religious belief depicted in two films Holy Cross (director Nguyen Hong Quan) and Going Back (director Tran Quang Minh) is the belief in a better life.

The humorous look at the consequence of belief can felt in Black Coffee (director Trần Quốc Bảo) or Under the Tree’s Shadow (director Doan Tran Anh Tuan). Family bond is a topic portrayed with subtlety in Deliver Ice Playfully (director Tran Ngoc Sang) and Five Punishments (director Duong Minh Loc). Personal impasse can be emancipated in Aether (director Vu Ngoc Phuong), The Man Who Was There (director Andy Nguyen) and An Interrogation (director Trang Nghiem) when a person has a chance to face their own self.
