As both a source and destination country, Cambodia is a major focal point in the regional sex trade. Cambodian women, especially young women from the countryside, are extremely vulnerable to various forms of violence and exploitation. The animated short film FAMILY VALUES is conceived as an educational tool to prevent trafficking of girls and was commissioned by the NGO OXFAM. It is directed and produced by Cambodian artist Poi Chhunly, who set up the kingdom’s first animation studio at the art school “Phare Ponleu Selapak” in Battambang.
