Cambodia’s garment industry a major pillar of the country’s post-war economy and employs more than 350,000 workers. Most of them are young women from rural areas, who contribute to their family’s survival and to the education of their siblings. The short documentary A DAY OFF FROM THE FACTORY follows three factory workers to their village in Kampong Speu province. The film is the result of a workshop by US director/producer Mark Hammond (“L’Amour Cache”) with young Cambodian filmmakers Sao Sopheak, Borei Sylyvann and Ream Chamrouen.
